Our Post-Diagnostic Support service involves individual one-hour sessions with a member of our specialist clinical team. Sessions are usually arranged weekly or with longer intervals between appointments, depending on your needs and preferences. Our clinicians are experienced professionals who undertake autism and ADHD assessments and have specialist knowledge of neurodevelopmental differences.
This means they understand both the diagnostic process and how to help individuals and families apply their assessment findings to everyday life. Your first session provides an opportunity to discuss your diagnostic outcome, ask questions and identify the areas you would find most helpful to focus on. Subsequent sessions can then explore these areas in greater detail, including developing practical strategies, considering adjustments and identifying additional resources or support.
We usually recommend starting with three sessions. This provides time to understand your priorities, explore the areas most relevant to you and develop practical next steps. Many individuals and families find that three sessions provide the guidance and understanding they need. Others may choose to continue with further sessions to explore additional areas or receive ongoing support.
There is no fixed programme or expectation to continue beyond what feels helpful to you.
What is Post-Diagnostic Support (PDS)?
A diagnosis is often the beginning of a new understanding of yourself, your experiences and how you navigate the world. While a diagnostic assessment can provide important answers, understanding how those findings relate to everyday life isn't always straightforward.

Post-Diagnostic Support bridges the gap between receiving a diagnosis and knowing what to do next.
Our service offers dedicated time with an experienced specialist to explore what your diagnosis means for you, understand your individual strengths and differences, and identify practical ways to support your needs.
Sessions are tailored to what matters most to you. This might involve exploring particular aspects of your diagnosis, developing strategies for everyday situations, considering adjustments at home, school or work, or understanding what further support and services may be available.
Rather than following a fixed programme, our specialists work collaboratively with you to focus on your priorities, helping you develop a better understanding of yourself or your family member and greater confidence in navigating everyday life.
Who is Post-Diagnostic Support for?
Our Post-Diagnostic Support service is available to anyone who has completed an autism or ADHD assessment with us and would like additional guidance or support.
You might have questions about your diagnostic outcome, want help understanding recommendations in your report, or be wondering what comes next.
You don't need to be experiencing particular difficulties to benefit from post-diagnostic support.
Some people simply value having the opportunity to explore their diagnosis with a specialist, while others may want more focused support with specific aspects of daily life.
The service is designed to be flexible and can support individuals, parents, carers, partners and families.
What ages is the service suitable for?
Post-Diagnostic Support is suitable for children, young people and adults of all ages. We recognise that people have different needs and preferences, so sessions can be adapted to suit the individual and their circumstances.
For younger children, sessions may primarily involve parents or carers, helping them to better understand their child's diagnosis and explore practical ways to support them.
Older children and young people may prefer to attend with a parent or carer, independently where appropriate, or through a combination of individual and shared sessions.
Adults can attend independently or choose to involve partners, family members or other important people in their lives.
Sessions can also be divided to allow time for both the individual and their family members to explore their own questions and perspectives.
Our aim is to make sure everyone involved has the opportunity to develop their understanding and feel supported.
